How to Make a Screenshot (Screen Capture) Print

  • 0

We at IT Karobar often cannot see exactly what you are seeing on your computer. We understand this can be frustrating when everything seems fine for us but you still have an error. You may be asked to provide a screenshot of your computer screen so we can get a better idea of your problem.

There are a varieties of ways to take screenshots (also know as screen shots or screen captures), from a manual screenshot to software you can use to easily take screenshots.

Manual

1. Go to the problem on your computer and then press the PrtScn key on your keyboard. It will appear that nothing has happened, however your image will have saved to your clipboard.

2. Open Paint, Illustrator, or a Photo program. In Windows, you may click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.

3. Go to the Edit menu and click Paste, or you can press Ctrl V.

4. Click File > Save As. In the box that pops up, change the "Save As Type" to PNG or JPG. Type any file name you like. Choose a location easy to remember, like the Desktop, and click the Save button.

Easy To Use Programs

Utilizing screenshots is a great way to help others see what you see. If you believe you may use them on a more consistent basis you may want to install a program to help you better format your shots. Here are a few we suggest:

Windows

If you are using a Windows Operating System we suggest you try ScreenHunter Free. This free program has a simple interface that makes this operation surprisingly easy. Users can select a single hot key to take screen captures, as well as select whether they'd like a full-screen capture, capture a window, or simple a small rectangle (which brings up crosshairs that let you zero in on target).

Mac

If you are using a Mac Operating System we suggest you try Capture Me. Mac users know that there is a great built in screenshot built into OS X, so what could this offer? there are occasions when it's nice to be able to choose what file format your capture saves in, copy it to the clipboard without holding down four keys at once, or resize it on the fly. It's also common to want to take successive shots of the exact same position on the screen without moving the capture region at all, or make all your captures the same size. These tasks are trivial with Capture Me.

Linux

If you are using a Linux Operating System we suggest you try KSnapshot. Just like Mac, Linux has a great built in screenshot tool, so what does KSnapshot offer? Users can select whether they'd like a full-screen capture, capture a window, or simple a small rectangle (which brings up crosshairs that let you zero in on target). You can also set a delay so you can position your mouse just right.

Once You Have Your Screenshots

Once you have your screenshot, send your screenshot to IT Karobar, simply attach the PNG or JPG file to your email reply. Alternatively, you can upload the file to your public_html folder and tell us the name of the file.
